It's just not right...

Dave has flagged up an important and worrying trend. The date for switching on Christmas lights is creeping ever earlier. Now I have a very effective guideline for when Christmassy things can happen. NO CHRISTMASSY things (buying presents, lights, singing of carols and other such things) can take place BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY on 14th November. It's a VERY simple rule. If you MUST INSIST on making it less personal then you can use REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY as a guideline (one not to forget you could argue!) as the marker. I mean how can you do the silence round the war memorial AND have carols and tinsel all over the place???!!

As Dave points out too - things could even get nasty...

LOL! That's a good cartoon.

I totally agree, although Ian would draw the line at his birthday, the 20th. I got so annoyed yesterday, my friend started singing Christmas songs and they've put a Christmas tree up in the Students' Union shop! I know most shops have had decorations up for weeks, but I would have thought that the SU shop would have more sense!

IfIi go by the birthday rule then that's no Christmassy things before 18th May! personally apart from the shopping (which should all be done over the internet) nothing else should really happen before the 24th December! I'm a grumpy old man!!!

The thing that amuses me is that Tesco Express has a big sign saying "Happy Christmas" outside it, from at least a week ago. One day when I have the courage I'm going to wish the guy behind the till a Happy Christmas, after all, his company did, didn't it!
